Breath of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #2)by Amanda Bouchet

Be prepared, that first step is a doozy!  I didn’t think a book could rip my heart out within the first chapter. OMG! What are you doing to me Amanda Bouchet? Geez.
Have no fear, the boys are back in town! The same group that made us laugh and swoon are still hard at work to protect their people from those who wish to destroy it.

Learning to control her power, Cat will have to master her body and will it to do her bidding. She will need all the help she can get from those who love her. More of her past is revealed during her travels, through interactions with those from her past. It slowly reveals more of the horrific childhood she was forced to endure at the hands of a tyrannical mother.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed Breath of Fire, it didn’t seem to have the same pace and draw to me as its predecessor: A Promise of Fire. What it did have was more world building and an expansion on secondary characters that I sincerely hope will take center stage later on in the series. Don’t get me wrong, though, the journey they undertook was filled with bloodthirsty action and some dramatic fight scenes that leaves the reader utterly exhausted.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.
